After the EAOs reached bi-literal agreements with U Thein Sein government, although there has been peaceful situation in some areas of southern Burma/Myanmar, however, there has been increases of illicit drug sales in Mon State and Karen State.  Most of the drugs are amphetamines, and are distributed with a good network.  Since there is weak of rule of laws, and plenty of armed groups those surrendered to the Burmese Army are settled down as militia groups, the drug production and distribution has increased.  State governments could not well handle on drug production and distribution network. Myanmar ceasefire agreement and peace process happened in 2012, after the President U Thein Sein called to all ethnic armed resistant groups in dealing bi-literal talks.  A minister in U Thein Sein’s cabinet, U Aung Min, led the negotiation mission, and met many groups of ethnic armed organizations and their political and military leaders.  U Aung Min’s peace mission could deal and agree for bi-lateral agreements on ceasefire.  In southern Burma/Myanmar, New Mon State Party (NMSP) signed bi-literal ceasefire agreements in February 2012, and the Karen main armed group, Karen National Union (KNU) signed in March 2012 respectively.  Other bi-literal…

Description Burma/Myanmar has political problem, especially on the constitutional crisis since it regained Independent from British Colony in 1948.  Even Burmese political leader, Gen. Aung San, and the ethnic leaders in Frontier Area of Burma, agreed to establish the newly independent Burma, as Federal Union, by sharing equal power among the State Governments and the Central Government.  But the Independent leader, Gen. Civic Action for Free and Fair Election Project (CAFFE Project) was conducted by Mon State-based civil society organizations (CSOs) including Jee-pyah Civil Society Development Organization (JCSDO), Mon Youth Progression Organization (MYPO), Human Rights Foundation of Monland (HURFOM), Konhongsar, and Rehmonnya Institute of Civic Engagement (RICE).
