The rise of armed clashes in Southern Burma
The current political situation in Myanmar has changed to complexity after the 2021 coup to military rule. The civil war and armed clashes have intensified all over the country. As the armed conflicts intensify, the rule of law mechanism has deteriorated further. The fundamental right, which is the freedom to live peacefully, the rights of safety and security, and the freedom of expression are forbidden under unjust law and are no longer available anymore. The situation is getting worse and more encroaching on the security of every human being.
In southern Myanmar, the armed conflict is widespread, and the safety and security of people are increasingly threatened. Even though there were no armed fighting at the beginning of the coup, today the armed conflict has intensified in the townships of people’s defense forces strongholds.
The unlawful arresting, killings, and torture, acts against war crimes by the military junta have increased during the attacks. Killing innocent people for no reason and incident killings are happening on the side of the revolutionary forces as well. Human violations and public security are increasing on a daily basis.
According to independent media, over 4450 people have been arrested, 1062 people wounded and over 351 people in Southern Burma have been killed since the coup. By looking at the statistics, the human rights violations and war crimes against humanity among the conflicts have increased, leading to an insecure situation.
