Political Situation

The military dictatorship in Myanmar has persisted, and the country continues to struggle with various crises and a severe collapse following the 2021 coup, which has resulted in internal instability and strong-intensive armed clashes across the nation. Despite the coup being in effect for over two years, there is no indication of improvement. The economic and social sectors, including education and healthcare, are in a state of disarray rather than progress. The armed conflict between the People’s Defense Force (PDF), some Ethnic Resistance Organizations (ERO), and the Burmese military is intensifying, with battles raging in different parts of the country.

The offensive armed clashes between the revolutionary and military regimes are becoming more intense. According to independent media reports, the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) has exceeded 1.5 million due to intensive armed conflict across the country, and they are in dire need of humanitarian aid. Additionally, more than (60,000) public houses and other related buildings have been destroyed and burned down due to bombardment and arson by a military council member. Since the coup, (17009) people have been detained, (20877) arrested, and (3166) killed, indicating that the situation is worsening. Acts of terrorism are increasing day by day, and fundamental and democratic rights remain violated.

The economic system has been shattered, and the financial inflation problems, high prices of goods and services, and unemployment rates are felt by the grassroots people due to the coup’s various consequences. Furthermore, the social sectors, including education and health care, are still far from being accessible to everyone. The rule of law has completely collapsed, and people’s safety and security conditions are deteriorating, with theft, rough rides, robberies, and murder cases significantly higher than before. As a result, the country is becoming a failed state with various crises.
